How to properly store your end grain cutting board

End grain cutting boards require some regular attention to maintain their original beauty and keep them in the best of shape. If you stay on top of the regular maintenance you definitely wouldn’t want your cutting board to deteriorate while you enjoy an extended holiday or while they are in seasonal or extended storage. Here are a few tips to help you properly protect your end grain cutting board.

Larch wood cutting board conditioner. A mixture of beeswax and mineral oil for end grain cutting boards.

For trips less than a month or two give your board a generous coating of conditioner (not oil) a beeswax blend like our Larch wood Board Conditioner would be ideal. Store your board upright on it’s side and keep it away from sources of heat and sunshine.

This End grain cutting board has been conditioned and wrapped in plastic for long term storage.

For trips longer than 2 months or for seasonal or extended storage. Same principals as above but we’d recommend wrapping the board in plastic wrap to ensure the moisture you apply to it stays locked in with the board.
If you are moving your board from one location to another make sure you conditioner regularly during that transition time to help the board acclimate to it’s new environment.

Happy Chopping!
